One-Day Tsavo East Full Day: Coast → Tsavo East → Coast
04:30 AM: Early Departure.Your driver-guide will pick you up from your resort. It is crucial to start before dawn to beat the morning traffic and ensure you arrive at the park entrance with enough time for game viewing.
08:30 AM: You will drive along the main Mombasa-Nairobi highway. This is a great time to rest in the vehicle. You will likely pass through coastal villages and watch the landscape transition from coastal greenery to the semi-arid, rugged terrain characteristic of Tsavo.
08:30 AM – 09:00 AM: You will typically enter through the Bachuma Gate. Your guide will handle the park entry formalities, and this is when the roof of your safari vehicle will be popped up for better viewing.
09:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Morning game drive.This is prime time for spotting wildlife before the heat of the midday sun sets in. You will head into the heart of the park, focusing on areas known for high animal concentrations, such as the Aruba Dam. Look out for Tsavo’s famous "red elephants" (who roll in the red-oxide soil), lions, buffalo, zebras, and giraffes.
12:30 PM – 01:30 PM: Lunch. You will stop for a buffet lunch at a lodge or restaurant within or near the park.
01:30 PM – 04:00 PM: Afternoon game drive & exit.After lunch, you will continue your game drive, exploring different trails or visiting waterholes where animals gather in the afternoon. This is often your last chance to spot predators like cheetahs, which are sometimes more active as the day cools down. You will then head toward the exit gate to begin the drive back to the coast.
04:00 PM – 07:00 PM: Return to coast.You will drive back to coast, arriving at your hotel in the early evening,
